**Make motivation a practice**

While on twitter I read a tweet that said motivation is like taking a shower we have to do it everyday to maintain. I loved the message, because it made so much sense.

We have to realize that in order to keep ourselves going and happy we need to stay motivated and we need to include motivation into our daily lives.

It could be a calendar with daily motivational and inspirational quotes, it could be pictures, it could be our family, and or our friends. We all need motivation to keep going.

It’s a practice, like showering. We take a shower to make sure we are clean, that we don’t walk around smelly, plus we know that is part of staying healthy and reducing illness.

So just like showering we need to take time everyday to practice motivation, because we need it to cleanse our soul and keep our spirits up, we need it to stay healthy and reduce illness.

With a new year come many new goals, and new ways of thinking…but ask yourself this very important question what will I do to keep myself motivated and wanting to wakeup everyday to do what I love and deal with certain life challenges that come my way?

Motivation is more than just that nice word that’s tossed around, it’s a practice and a way of life, its saying to yourself, I will motivate myself everyday by reading something, watching something, or taking time out of my schedule to do something that helps and reminds me to stay on track. Everyone is motivated by different things.

**Here are a few tips, which work for me and others**

  • Sign up for newsletters that send out daily or weekly dose of motivations to read
  • Surround yourself with a dream team. This team consists of people who live and breathe positivity; they will help you stay on track.
  • Write your goals and put them on your phone, in your notebook, on your mirror, put it anywhere and everywhere that will remind you to keep going.
  • Reward yourself for a job well done, even if it’s a small treat, we all deserve and need to be rewarded.
  • Make a resource binder or a favorite’s page on your computer
  • If you have a resource binder, start collecting quotes, images of people, places, items that when you look at and or read them your motivation soars.
  • Same goes for your favorite’s link on your computer…start listing websites that offer great quotes, images, pictures and videos of things that make you happy and motivate you.

These are just a few suggestions. Find what works for you.

The point is to make motivation a daily practice like showering. Try it and let me know what you think, I’ll try it myself and keep you all posted.

Happy New Year, get excited about life.
